What’s the role?

As the Production Specialist, you are a key member of the Production Department at Scotford Refinery and you will support both the shift teams and area disciplines in ensuring process and hardware performance is safe, reliable, optimized, and delivering quality products to meet the Assets hydrocarbon plan. In this role, you will take responsibility for the Scotford Refinery Hydrocracker Fractionation unit, Steam Methane Reformers, and Hydrogen Compression facilities.

You will help initiate and support facility improvements, including maintenance, turnaround, and projects. As a key member of the team, you will collaborate and influence work process interfacing with Production and optimizing prioritization efforts with the support disciples. Accountabilities

As the Productions Operations Specialist, you will:
  • Align hydrocarbon plan with other Production department activities
  • Define process targets and support the Production front line to stay within limits
  • Participate in daily department huddle, provide assurance on threat mitigations
  • Participate in Console Review Meetings, mentor and coach participants for operations excellence
  • Participate in Proactive Technical Monitoring performance and alarm reviews
  • Manage MTO process
  • Lead in advanced unit troubleshooting
  • Coordinate complex threat management situations
  • Support maintenance ranking and complex execution plans
  • Coach & mentor Production personnel
  • Support the coordination of TA windows
  • Support and help prioritize project development and execution.
  • Support and help prioritize management of change (MOC)
Skills & Requirements

What we need from you -
  • Must have legal authorization to work in Canada on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in the petrochemical industry, specializing in operations related roles
  • Competencies in both field and console operations
  • Preferences for experience in Hydrocracking process and Steam Methane Reforming
  • Preference for 4th class Power Engineer Certificate
  • Experience in Turnaround planning is desirable
  • Strong IT skills, including SAP and Microsoft Suit of applications
  • Strong Technical writing training

The Scotford Refinery Hydrocracker Unit

Processes heavy feedstock from the Atmospheric Distillation Unit and Vacuum Gas Oil from the Scotford Upgrader at a throughput of 552 M3/HR (80,000 BPD). The Hydrocracker hydrotreats and cracks heavy oil and lighter products into lighter streams for the downstream units.

The Steam Methane Reformer Unit

Converts natural gas to hydrogen using large amount of heat and steam. Thruput of approximately 80,000 m3. Utilizes Pressure Swing Adsorption for H2 purification from 75% to 99.9% (i.e., remove CO, CO2, CH4, N2). The unit also imports H2 from the Scotford Upgrader and 3rd Party facilities.
