Position Description


The Patient Care Information Coordinator will be responsible for providing a high level of support and assistance to the Cardiology Inpatient Department. They will support the operation of the team/unit by providing clerical and administrative functions in a proactive and organized manner.

Here’s What You’ll Get To Do:

  • Prepare and Reconcile payroll for the Cardiology Inpatient Unit
  • Provide assistance in sourcing additional nursing and clerical staff coverage to replace unexpected scheduling gaps.
  • Take part in interview process and on-boarding new clerical hires.
  • Support the clerical staff/provide coverage as required.
  • Create and maintain clerical schedules for the clerical team.
  • Ordering and procurement of supplies and specialized products for the inpatient cluster
  • Support Clinical Staff in organizing and storing supplies/equipment that are utilized in the unit, while remaining fiscally responsible.
  • Ensuring P-Card invoices are paid in a timely manner.
  • Answer phone calls and respond to requests for information from families and healthcare staff
  • Coordinate unit administrative functions to ensure efficient operation of the unit, within scope of authority
  • Collaborate with unit manager on relevant patient care projects.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • Diploma from a recognized Medical Administration program preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years clerical or administrative experience in a health care setting. Experience in a hospital environment is preferred
  • Experience with Epic preferred
  • Payroll and Scheduling experience is essential and medical terminology is an asset
  • Strong computer skills are required including demonstrated experience with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills that demonstrate an ability to anticipate potential issues and make suggestions
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills with both fellow colleagues and patients
  • Ability to remain focused and prioritize tasks in a busy and high stress environment
  • Dependability and excellent attendance are required.
  • Ability to be self-directed, to be flexible and to take initiative
  • Attention to detail and efficient time management

Employment Type:

Permanent Full-time; Day shift 6am to 2pm Monday to Friday

Successful candidates are expected to provide desk coverage to meet department’s needs, 2-3 shifts per week: 6am to 2pm.
