Guelph Manufacturing Group Inc. is currently hiring a Buyer - MRO

Your daily responsibilities will include:

  • Ongoing review for sources of supply for all operating supplies (includes packaging) for the best product at competitive prices, as agreed to with Plant personnel. This position works with H&S for all safety related items, all tool and maintenance personnel and general management, to provide least cost products at best value.
  • Analysis of current plant supplies and services for competitive supply. This review is to include but is not limited to, quality, price, delivery, logistical advantage, and after normal hours, availability of product and systems for emergency requirements.
  • Set-up of and enforcement of all plant rules for contractors (services) and provides ongoing support to improve cost and quality as well as logistical advantage in keeping with, 1, above.
  • Working within the parameters of supply ordering and approval systems provided, interpret and advise suppliers of ongoing changes to volume and provide guidance to requisition’s of goods and services as to correct procedures and status of these requests.
  • Maintain accurately all purchase transactions on ERP business systems and in appropriately controlled files for record keeping purposes and historical review in a timely fashion.
  • Interview potential and current suppliers for product and services provided in a professional and ethical manner. Review and approve for set-up New Supplier applications, approvals for credit (provide credit application forms and HST/GTI exemption forms.
  • Provide timely processing of all receipts and invoice discrepancies (P.O./price) so as to maintain a consistent timely flow with AP and processing of Supplier payments.
  • Work with Suppliers and plant to develop improvement activities.
  • Provide back-up for other departmental responsibilities when requested.
  • Provide accurate and timely reporting to Management on supply opportunities and threats, cost change and provide cost improvement per company requirements as per goals and objectives.
  • Adhere to Company Health and Safety Regulations.
  • Provide support and directions for Packaging/Engineering design requests and changes.

What are we looking for?

  • Grade 12 minimum, enrollment in PMAC or Business systems preferred.
  • 2- 5 yrs years in manufacturing/ office environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft or equivalent Products and ERP systems.
  • Able to multi-task and manage effectively in high volume
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
  • Organized, self-starting, responsible, attentive to detail
