About The Opportunity:
In this high profile role, you will be responsible for drafting a variety of routine bylaws, public hearing notices, land title documents, correspondence and website updates along with coordinating and tracking bylaw and land use permit approval processes. You will also organize City Council’s select and advisory committees, commissions and board meetings, distribute agendas and minutes and attend meetings providing legislative and administrative support. You will also assist with the preparation of open Council agenda packages and minutes, attend open Council meetings as required, and facilitate follow up action resulting from Council resolutions and requests. This position also provides support in connection with local government elections, referendums and alternative approval processes.

About Your Background:
Along with Grade 12, you have completed a one-year certificate program in local government, public administration, business, legal administration or a related discipline from a publicly accredited post-secondary institution recognized in the BC Transfer Guide. You also have two (2) to three (3) years’ progressive administrative experience working in a local government or legal environment with local government experience preferred. Along with your experience with information and records management you have a strong knowledge of local government functions/responsibilities and relevant legislation including the Community Charter, the Local Government Act, the Interpretation Act, and the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. You have demonstrated experience conducting legal research and analyzing information along with superior written communication skills including experience drafting legal documents and correspondence.
