Golder has a new opportunity for a Geochemist for our Mine Environmentgroup at one of our GTA, Sudbury or Ottawaoffices. The selected candidate will support geochemistry-related projects and proposal efforts with an emphasis on the mining industry. Projects typically involve permitting, baseline studies, operational support, and reclamation/remediation.

Your Primary Responsibilities Will Include
  • Providing support for geochemical projects, specifically in mining environments;
  • Conducting geochemical characterization studies (soil, mine wastes and ore), associated groundwater and surface water sampling and other environmental investigations;
  • Collection, management and analysis of geochemical data;
  • Water quality and geochemical modeling;
  • Report preparation;
  • Demonstrating a “Safety-First” focus; and,
  • Maintaining a high standard of behavior to uphold Golder’s reputation and demonstrating a commitment to our Core Values.
The successful candidate will have the following skills, abilities, and qualifications:
  • Degree in Geology, Geochemistry, or related field. Ideally with a strong quantitative background.
  • 0 to 3 years applied work experience
  • Academic knowledge of geology, geochemistry, surface water and groundwater interactions, hydrology, water treatment and physical and chemical hydrogeology.
  • Strong understanding of geology and chemistry.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard geochemical software such as PHREEQC, Geochemist’s Workbench, and GoldSim would be considered an asset;
  • Strong data manipulation abilities including experience with data management tools (i.e., Excel, EQuIS, Access, Python, R).
  • Strong relational skills within the team environment and with clients are essential.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Willingness to travel to domestic and international project locations.
  • The candidate must possess a valid driver’s license.
The selected candidate will demonstrate a passion for geochemistry and geology, possess critical thinking and problem-solving skills and be committed to producing technically excellent work in a client-driven environment.

Preferred
  • Graduate degree in geochemistry
  • Experience with geochemical modeling codes (PHREEQC, Geochemist’s Workbench)
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English, proficiency in spoken and written French considered an asset.
