The Opportunity

AES is looking for a Junior Accountant to join their exciting downtown Vancouver workplace. Working closely with the Project Accountants, the Junior Accountant is responsible for project accounting, month-end/year-end tasks, the assistance of new ERP implementation etc. Other duties also include ensuring accuracy and effectiveness in all of our accounting tasks.

The Role

  • Work on preparation and submission of monthly project billings
  • Complete project setup and respond to project management inquires
  • Spot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and effectiveness
  • Assist ERP implementation; test data, log issues and summarize results.
  • Assist AR collection and client inquiries.
  • Support month-end and year-end close process
  • Liaise within the team and with other department stakeholders to improve financial and operational procedures
  • Other related duties as required or assigned

You will have the opportunity to complete projects independently or with support from the finance staff. Working conditions are primarily in-office from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday.

Qualification

  • Accounting Diploma or degree
  • Able to deal with high volume transactions and time management.
  • Proactive attitude, strong communication, problem-solving, time management and analytical skills
  • Proven knowledge of bookkeeping principles and practices
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong computer skills awareness and comprehension
  • A commitment to ongoing learning and an openness to new processes
  • Able to prepare, relay/explain financial data

Nice to have

  • Experience implementing and working with ERP systems across an organization would be an asset. Deltek experience is a strong asset
  • Project Accounting experience in A/E/C (Architecture/Engineer/Construction) industry
