Opportunity

MacEwan University is seeking candidates for an IT Technician I position. The IT Technician I position will be supporting IT projects and technology refreshes.

Main duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • provide customer service and technology assistance to ongoing construction and IT projects

  • move, setup, and inventory of IT equipment

  • assist in the escalation of technical issues

  • be responsible for the creation, monitoring and updating of tasks and escalated tickets within the MacEwan IT ticket application, Jira Service Management and Jira Software.

With guidance, the position will also support the creation and maintenance of project documentation including spreadsheets, project dashboards and project tasks using Microsoft Excel. The position requires a strong focus on customer service, verbal and written communication, and administrative duties.

This is a full-time non-recurring term position working Monday to Friday, between May to September 2022.

Skills

The successful incumbent will possess:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Hardware and Operating system knowledge including Mac, PC, printers and Mobile devices

  • Strong knowledge of Google, Microsoft O365, Microsoft Office, and Adobe products

  • Must be able to work within a team matrix as well as work independently

  • Computer network fundamentals including wireless configurations

  • Must have the ability to diagnose problems and provide solutions

  • Customer service oriented

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a two-year diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution

  • Minimum of one-year experience in a multi-media technology environment

  • Experience with public service and/or end user support is also required
