Our Newfoundland and Labrador Operations are an integrated mining, milling, and processing operation. Nickel concentrate from the fly-in, fly-out Voisey’s Bay operation is shipped to our state-of-art Long Harbour Processing Plant where it is refined into low-carbon and high-purity nickel rounds, cobalt rounds and copper cathodes.

The Opportunity

We are currently seeking an Integrated Mine Operations Schedulerto join our Integrated Operations Teamin Voisey’s Bay.

This fixed term role is based at the Voisey’s Bay mine site in Labrador, a fly-in fly-out operation, on a 2 week in/2 week out rotation.

As an Integrated Mine Operations Scheduler, you will be responsible to continuously improve the work team performance through effective use of established processes as defined at the mine. As an Integrated Operations Scheduler you will be accountable for developing an integrated 12-week short range schedule and supporting conflict resolution and escalation of decisions in the week of execution. You will also be applying work breakdown detail to the primary mining activities and levelling resources to remove instances of over allocation.

In this position, you will:

  • Support the development of the integrated 12 week execution schedule as per the production requirements of the business plan;
  • Add and manage additional details to the week +1 to +3 plan, ensuring work isn’t included in the schedule if planning is not complete;
  • Support resolution of scheduling conflicts on behalf of the Integrated Operations Superintendent by assessing production requirements and proposing conflict solutions;
  • Work in chosen scheduling platform ~80% of time to schedule all tasks;
  • Identify and escalate all critical issues;
  • Monitor effectiveness of Integrated Operations Scheduling systems and processes and recommend improvements to the Mine Manager / Superintendents;
  • Integrate input(s) from Operations, Engineering, Maintenance and Logistics into the planning schedule to meet the mine commitments;
  • Identify and resolve key scheduling conflicts which may prevent the successful delivery of the mining plan;
  • Support compliance reporting.

About You

Education

  • Undergraduate degree or College diploma in a related field;
  • Engineering degree in a related discipline would be an asset;

Experience & Skills

  • 4+ years of operations and scheduling for underground mining or a similar industry;
  • Experience using scheduling software and SAP;
  • Working knowledge of multiple processes within a mining environment;
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced working environment with tight deadlines;
  • Exceptional communication and organization skills;
  • Strong computer skills, and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
