PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
Reporting to the appropriate site supervisor, the Instrumentation Apprentices and Journeyman will be responsible for providing full cycle, in depth knowledge and support for the profession of Instrumentation to ensure Aecon Construction Solutions Inc. achieves their general and specific project objectives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Consult manufacturers’ manuals, circuit diagrams and blueprints to determine tests and maintenance procedures for instruments used for measuring and controlling flow, level, pressure, temperature, chemical composition and other variables in manufacturing and processing
  • Consult with and advise process operators
  • Test, as well as inspect the operation of instruments and systems to diagnose faults using pneumatic, electrical, electronic testing devices and precision measuring instruments
  • Interpret and use appropriate CSA, ISA and API installation standards and practices
  • Install, control and maintain instruments on new or existing plant equipment and processes
  • Repair and adjust system components, such as sensors, transmitters and programmable logic controllers, or remove and replace defective parts
  • Calibrate components and instruments according to manufacturers’ specifications
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance work
  • Working with field work packages and completing test and maintenance reports
  • Practice loss management principles
  • Consult with and advise process operators
  • May be required to supervise and train apprentices
  • Perform all construction related activities, not limited to, but including; tube bending, instrument installations, tube bundle and raceway installation pressure testing, function testing control valves, transmitters, discrete and analog switches
  • The ability to conduct risk assessments
  • Comfortable in working with engineers on basic designs

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review work assignments and job procedures to ensure safe and reliable work execution
  • Perform field work to a high quality and provide thorough follow up with proper and efficient documentation of work
  • Perform proactive maintenance, trouble shooting and repairs for a wide range of Instrumentation and control equipment, such as Hydraulic operated valves, various pressure and flow measurements, radiation density Gauges, Radar level transmitters, CCTV monitoring systems, Computerized control systems

  • The ability to pay careful attention to details
  • Good communication and reading skills
  • Good mathematical, scientific and mechanical abilities
  • Ability to keep up to date with changes in technology
  • Enjoy problem-solving and working with little direction or supervision
  • Tube bending abilities is necessary

Salary: $21.00-$41.00 per hour
