Arcadis is seeking a General Site Superintendent to join the team in Quebec, Canada. The successful candidate will be supporting our construction projects across Quebec. The successful candidate must possess solid leadership, great organizational/planning skills and excellent communication skills in French/ English to be able to lead the dynamic work environment. Bilingual French/English is a requirement.

Role description:

Arcadis is seeking a General Site Superintendent to join the team in Quebec. The successful candidate will be supporting our construction projects across Quebec. The successful candidate must possess solid leadership, great organizational/planning skills and excellent communication skills in French/ English to be able to lead the dynamic work environment.

The successful candidate will be supporting projects all over Quebec with an Arcadis Home Office in Montreal. The applicant may be required to report to the Arcadis Office if required by the project team but the expectation will be the candidate will either be working remote when there are no site activities, or on site completing supervision during project execution phases.

Role accountabilities:
  • Providing industry expertise related to construction design, scheduling, budgeting, value engineering, and more.
  • Working collaboratively with Arcadis Project Managers, Project Coordinators, Estimators, Safety Officers, Engineers and more, as well as with client owners, stakeholders, suppliers, subtrade Supervisors and workers, and more.
  • Interpreting and executing construction work plans according to project drawings and specifications.
  • Maintaining strict construction scheduling timelines and meeting key milestones in the project’s progression.
  • Creating and Administering Arcadis Health and safety plans.
  • Managing Health and Safety procedures and construction compliance on-site and completing daily/weekly safety documentation per local regulatory requirements.
  • Effectively managing and communicating with trade teams and actively maintaining positive relationships with Arcadis subcontractors, suppliers, and clients/stakeholders.
  • Ensuring that our standards for safety and quality workmanship are always exceeding the expectations of the client/stakeholders and maintaining productivity on a daily basis.
  • Coordinating with Arcadis’s Project Managers and Project Coordinators to develop active look-ahead schedules and report on project progress.
  • Lead daily site meetings to monitor and report on the project’s progress and support the construction team’s requirements for success.
  • Providing guidance and training to Arcadis project team and Engineers to foster their career growth and development.

Qualifications & Experience:

Required Qualifications:
  • Must be fluent verbally and through text in English/French
  • 8+ years experience in Construction Services
  • A minimum of 5 years in Canada to be able to complete the Federal Background check
  • Valid Driver License

Key Attributes:
  • Comprehensive understanding of construction scheduling, contracts, quality control, engineering principals, drawings, and safety regulations
  • In-Depth knowledge of construction safety best practices and experience enforcing strict health and safety procedures on site
  • Excellent problem solving skills and ability to identify/mitigate risks and provide effective solutions
  • Excellent multi-tasking skills and ability to coordinate and execute multiple scopes of work
  • Excellent leadership skills and ability to provide guidance and instruction to a large site team
  • Ability to travel to project sites across Quebec
  • Working Knowledge of Microsoft Suits

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Work experience in environmental construction preferred
  • Ability to use Site Docs Safety Management Software is an asset
  • Experience on mining, and oil and gas sites is an asset
  • First Aid Certified
  • Valid Construction Certifications: WAH, Confined Space, Asbestos Awareness, AWP License, Traffic Control, Propane Certificate
