SALARY: Fitness Instructor 1 = $41.16 - $43.44 per class
Fitness Instructor 2 = $50.77 - $53.00 per class
plus 12% in lieu of benefits (2021 rates)

The City of New Westminster has an opportunity for energetic self-starters to join its pool of fitness instructors. As a City of New Westminster fitness instructor candidate, you bring exceptional interpersonal skills, hold a valid First Aid and CPR certification and thrive in working at a variety of City facilities with varying demographics. Our preferred candidates will be available to work an irregular work schedule with the potential to instruct classes on a regular basis.

Qualified candidates will possess one or more current certifications in the following areas of fitness:

• First Aid and CPR certification (mandatory)
• Group Fitness Instructors: BCRPA, Canfitpro, CFES certifications or related equivalent
• Yoga Instructors: 200+ Hour Yoga Certification
• Pilates Instructors : Pilates Certification
• Zumba Instructors: Zumba License
• Older Adult Group Fitness

Duties, Responsibilities and Preferred Attributes:

• Provide a well-planned lesson for each class
• Ability to adapt to the population of the class
• Ability to pass and maintain a clear Police Information Check
• Experience in teaching a variety of group fitness class styles is considered an asset
