Elk Island Public Schools (EIPS) is one of the largest school divisions in Alberta, serving the educational needs of approximately 17,500 students in 43 schools. Every day, the staff and students of EIPS are encouraged to pursue opportunities to grow and discover their passions in life. The Division prides itself on providing staff and students with the tools to achieve success by offering dynamic programming, up-to-date resources and practical professional learning opportunities.

EIPS is recruiting a part-time (0.714 FTE) Fine Arts, CTS (Entrepreneurship & Design Studies), and LINKS (options class) Teacher at Fort Saskatchewan High.

Fort Saskatchewan High serves approximately 475 students in grades 10 to 12, with 24 teaching staff and 13 support staff. The school is located in Fort Saskatchewan, AB, approximately 20 kilometres north of Sherwood Park, AB. Fort Saskatchewan High aims to provide a stimulating student-centered environment that models lifelong learning where every person is provided with the opportunity to reach their own potential.

Commencing August 29, 2023

Open to internal and external applicants, priority will be given to EIPS teachers who hold a continuous contract and meet the minimum requirements of the position

The Learning - Individual Needs, Knowledge and Skills (LINKS) Program is a specialized system program designed to meet the needs of students with mild to severe/profound cognitive (intellectual) disabilities, who may also have physical, sensory, medical or behavioural difficulties. The focus of the program is to improve academic, communication, self-care, social, vocational and independent living skills within a safe, structured and supported learning environment.

Qualifications:
Bachelor of Education degree

Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate

Effective organization and classroom management skills

Ability to create a classroom environment where students feel safe, supported, and challenged

Excellent verbal and written skills

Experience or familiarity with analyzing data and using data to inform decisions and/or instruction

Strong collaboration and teamwork skills

Growth mindset and ability to use feedback to improve practice

Relentless drive to set and achieve personal and professional goals

Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training
