The Controller works with the team at the MHG Head Office, reporting to the Chief Financial Officer. An important part of the head office and finance team, the Controller also collaborates closely with Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and the balance of the finance team to generate accurate and timely financial information and reports. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and auditing as well as experience gathering, evaluating, presenting and reporting financial information to senior management and MHG location management teams. They will work to provide accurate reporting, generating budgets and provide assistance to any financial inquiresAs Financial Controller, You Will

• Guides financial decisions by establishing, monitoring and enforcing policies and procedures
• Protects assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls
• Monitors and confirms financial condition by conducting audits; providing information to external auditors
• Prepares budgets by establishing schedules; collecting, analyzing and consolidating financial data and recommending plans
• Achieves budget objectives by scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions
• Provides status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data
• Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
• Complies with federal, provincial, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, anticipating future legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, filing financial reports and advising management
• Ensures operation of equipment by establishing preventive maintenance requirements and service contracts maintaining equipment inventories, evaluating new equipment and techniques
• Completes operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees, following up on work results
• Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, participating in professional societies
• Protects operations by keeping financial information and plans confidential
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed

What You Bring

• Must possess a minimum of 3-5 year’s accounting & financial experience
• A bachelor’s degree and CPA designation preferred
• Demonstrated working experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
