As per HRM Directive 518, this employment opportunity is restricted to Nunavut Inuit in Iqaluit only.

Reporting to the Iqaluit Facilities Manager, the Facility Management Clerk is responsible for processing and verifying data entry of all Service Request, asset expenditures including; as and when contracts, Local Contract Agreements and utility invoices through the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and/or various tracking spreadsheets in accordance with Nunavut Acts, regulations, policies and departmental procedures. The incumbent will be required to communicate regularly with local contractors and contracting staff whose first language is Inuktitut/Innuinaqtun. The incumbent is the first point of contact by staff, client and contractors concerning maintenance issues.

The incumbent takes the lead in maintaining asset files for all buildings, works and mobile equipment inventory for Iqaluit. The incumbent will ensure that all service requests for work are recorded, completed and also ensure payments are settled by year end. The Facility Management Clerk will ensure accurate and up to date data entry for the keyless entry system (keyscan) and will set up new users, update existing users and deactivate old users in the keyscan system as requested by client departments.

The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are usually obtained through a High School Diploma and two (2) years of office administration experience. The incumbent will be required to have experience within a cross-cultural environment. The ability to make translations (non-legal) is sometimes required and would be an asset.

The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktitut, Inuinnaqtun, English and French. Excellent oral and written communication skills (English and Inuktitut) are required for this position. Proficiency in Inuktitut is required for this position. Knowledge of Inuit language, communities, culture, land and Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit is an asset.

Equivalencies that consist of an acceptable combination of education and experience may be considered.
