We also use our voice to speak up on issues that impact our communities, such as implementing a living wage and standing against discrimination.A Day in the Life As Executive Director, you will report directly to the President and will be responsible for the for the day-to-day operations of the organization in collaboration with the President and the Board of Directors. You have a pulse on the organization, prioritize relationships and foster accountability. Here’s what you can expect to dig into in this exciting, hands-on role:- Work closely with the elected Board of Directors, acting as a professional advisor in implementing their strategic vision and providing recommendations.
- Encourage a collaborative and accountable environment through open communication, building and maintaining positive relationships with colleagues.
- Reviewing financial budgets and ensure that spending remains within the annual operating budget.
- Lead policy management, reviewing and revising existing policies to ensure everything is up to date, communicating new policies and procedures to employees, and monitoring policies for effectiveness, identifying opportunities for improvement along the way.
- Oversee all things people operations including hiring procedures, addressing employee performance issues, facilitating conflict resolution, and/or resolving any employee-related issues should they arise.
- Manage both internal and external relationships, facilitating productive working relationships with key stakeholders.
- Be an inspiring leader to those around you – motivate, mentor, and encourage supervisors and others on your team.
- Exceptional ability to collaborate with those around you to achieve goals together.
- Unmatched people skills – you have outstanding interpersonal skills and find it easy to establish respectful, nurturing, and empowering relationships with others.
- High energy, a can-do attitude, and fresh ideas that will advance our growth as an organization.
- Strong ability to think strategically, set priorities, and develop actionable plans to achieve goals.
- Professional demeanor that allows you to effectively manage confidential information and situations.
- Ability to work cooperatively while fostering a climate of shared respect and collaboration.
- Confident with multi-directional management, giving and receiving feedback in a constructive manner.
- Previous work experience in a director role in government, non-profit, or similar operation.
- Undergraduate degree or equivalent in Communications or Business.
- Comprehensive understanding of how to manage stakeholder relations and openly communicate with partners.
- Budgeting experience that allows you to effectively manage money and stay within financial boundaries for projects.
- Experience in managing people, overseeing their work, and identifying when to step in with support.
- Previous experience in labour relations is considered an asset.
