SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Clinical Manager, Child & Adolescent Mental Health Outpatient Services, you will work primarily in our Specialized Eating Disorder Service and outpatient interdisciplinary services. Duties include nutritional assessment, development of nutrition care, and nutrition education of complex and high-risk individuals and groups, while working within a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provides dietetic services to adolescents and families involved with the Outpatient Eating Disorders Clinic.
  • Services will include multidisciplinary assessment and nutrition therapy for adolescents in the outpatient service and their families.
  • The RD is also responsible for acting as a resource to other team members regarding nutritional care of patients in the outpatient program.
  • Provides evidence based treatments through group and one to one therapy
  • Able to adapt model of care interventions to provide a recovery oriented plan to provide stabilization, weight restoration, eating and symptom interruptions.
  • Provide referral and discharge planning for adolescents in response to the unique and complex needs of this population
  • Actively involved in family education initiatives aimed at enhancing coping and reducing distress
  • Works effectively with members of the multidisciplinary team in establishing and monitoring processes, improving continuity of care for patients, and enhancing collaborative relationships with other care providers
  • Participates in service committees and quality improvement initiatives as required
  • Engages in professional development and continuing education
  • Assists with program development and evaluation as required Participates in team building, service development and improvement activities striving to contribute to a healthy workplace environment
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications :

  • Registered Dietitian, membership in the College of Dietitians of Ontario.
  • Minimum of 2 years of nutrition assessment and education experience with adolescents and their families/supports
  • Knowledge of formal and informal community services and resources an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize, problem solve and respond to competing, unscheduled demands.
  • Experience and skill in complex decision making processes, advancing best practice initiatives, and exploration of innovative models of care.
  • Strong counselling skills and understand of patient engagement philosophies.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication, organization, and time management skills
  • Self-directed, organized, and diplomatic
  • Patient navigation focused
  • Demonstrated ability to function independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Evidence of strong professional boundaries
  • Experience with adolescent mental health is an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to work with adolescents presenting a wide range of emotional and behavioral problems required
  • Experience with quality improvement an asset
  • Skilled at providing virtual (video and phone) care
  • Good computer skills
  • Excellent attendance, punctuality, and work performance record.
