Design Engineer

Our client is a well-established company in the precast concrete industry. They are looking for an experienced Design Engineer to join their Guelph office on a permanent full time basis.

The Design Engineer provides design and technical support for preparation of shop drawing packages for submission and fabrication as well as guidance to operations for technical issues. The Design Engineer also maintains technical information in accordance with internal design and drafting principles and practices.

Responsibilities:

• Read and interpret contract drawings
• Review technical details
• Prepare 3D models
• Prepare shop drawings
• Maintain registry documents
• Administer DriveWorks
• Engineering record keeping
• Design using CSA and OPS Standards
• Implement standard practices for the operations team to maintain a high level of technical standards

Qualifications:

• Civil/Structural Engineering Degree
• Registered with PEO or EIT status
• Demonstrated proficiency with reading and interpreting construction blueprints
• Effective communication skills (verbal and written)
• Strong CAD skills in AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks
• Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, Excel, Staad Pro or Other, Concise Beam, Databases
• Strong personal organizational skills, accuracy, and attention to detail
• Project Management and Scheduling experience is an asset
