The Ultra Engineering function manages a portfolio of specialist capabilities, generating highly differentiated solutions and products by applying electronic, mechanical, and software technologies in demanding and critical environments to meet customer needs.We are now looking for a creative, talented, and self drivenComputer Science Co-Op Student. The successful Co-Op Student will work as a member of Utra’s Agile software development team. As such, the successful Co-Op Student will interact directly with Ultra’s senior software developers, thereby gaining significant experience in the development of real-world, high reliability, and safety critical software. As a member of Ultra’s Agile software development team, the successful Co-Op Student will take part in the development and testing of Ultra’s next generation sonar transmit and receive control software. This includes developing and testing software features to perform sonar waveform beamforming, sonar waveform band pass filtering, sonar array element equalization, sonar projector cavitation detection, and many other advanced sonar signal processing and controlling features.Moreover, the successful Co-Op student will interact with other development teams within Ultra to facilitate integration and system level testing between the transmit and receive control software and the actual sonar hardware. This work may require the successful Co-Op student to take part in real sea trials of Ultra’s next generation towed sonar systems. Such sea trials can take place at sea off the coast of Nova Scotia, or at specific calibrated sonar test ranges such as the US Navy’s Seneca Lake Sonar Test Facility or the US Navy’s Acoustic Research Detachment (ARD) facility at Lake Pend D’Oreille in Idaho.What are we looking for?Drives for Results: Ingrained in his/her work ethics, the successful Co-Op Student is driven to deliver results.
