The Bloorview Research Instituteand Medicine & Academic Affairsat Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital invite applications for a Clinician Scientist position.
The successful candidate will lead a stellar, clinically driven program of research with a focus on mental health in children and youth with neurodevelopmental conditions, preferably in the areas of experimental therapeutics and neuroimaging. The individual will be responsible for securing competitive research funding, attracting, and training top-notch graduate students, publishing high impact journal articles and leading knowledge translation activities. The distribution of time for this position is 60% research and 40% clinical. Clinical work will focus on children and youth with neurodevelopmental disorders and mental health needs. The clinician scientist is expected to interface seamlessly with clinical and research teams at Holland Bloorview.
Candidates must have:
- an MD and formal clinical research training (i.e., PhD) in a related field
- at least 2 years of clinical experience working with teams
- psychopharmacology experience in children and youth with neurodevelopmental conditions
- demonstrated innovation in clinically driven pediatric research
- a promising track record of high-quality scientific publications
Candidates must be eligible for an appointment at the Assistant Professor level in a cognate department/institute at the University of Toronto.
Competencies required include: ability to formulate and lead an innovative, internationally-leading research program in clinical neuroscience and therapeutics; superb scientific writing abilities and proficiency with writing journal articles; ability to work collaboratively with clinical teams in an interdisciplinary academic environment, ability to effectively communicate with clinicians and faculty of diverse backgrounds; strong grasp of emerging knowledge translation practices; compelling potential to contribute to evidence-based practice and best-practice guidelines; exemplary mentorship skills with potential to train the next generation of childhood disability scientists; excellent teaching and presentation skills; and proven analytical skills and critical thinking.
