Under the direction of the Manager of Nursing Practice and Education, the Clinical Nurse Educator is responsible for ensuring all work is in alignment with the organization’s missions, goals, values, and strategic plans to promote high quality, safe client care. This is accomplished by assisting in establishing and maintaining best practice; assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating unit orientation, in-servicing and other educational programming; assessing learning needs; acting as a clinical resource; promoting client and family centered care; participating in committee work as assigned; participating in continuous improvement activities; developing and maintaining client and staff resources. The CNE will function as a member of the interprofessional clinical team to promote effective delivery of client care in the SHR, including regular direct communication and input from the unit Manager(s) of Nursing.

Job Qualifications

Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor Degree in Nursing
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Instructor Certificate
  • Fetal Health Surveillance (FHS)
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Instructor Certificate
  • Registered or eligible for registration with the Saskatchewan Registered Nurses Association (SRNA)
  • Canadian Nurses Association certification in the relevant nursing discipline is preferred

Experience
3 years recent full time experience in labor and delivery nursing, including all areas of the service. (Delivery/OR/Antepartum/Fetal Assessment) Previous nursing education experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Ability to competently use computers and software applications as required by the position
  • Communication skills to transfer knowledge/skills
  • Understand the nursing process and principals of adult learning
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • NOTE: This is a Provincial Posting and is open to all SUN members within the bargaining unit as per Articles 27.02 and 27.05 of the SUN Collective Bargaining Agreement. First preference will be given to employees of the SKHA (Saskatoon) and its affiliated agencies.
