WHITEHORSE The Opportunity

WSP is currently seeking a Civil Technologist or Technician to join our Land Development & Municipal Engineeringgroup, located in Whitehorse. Reporting to the Manager this position will be responsible for drafting and design utilizing Civil 3D. Projects may include Municipal and Land Development infrastructure on greenfield, brownfield and infill land development projects in Northern BC and the Yukon. A Day In The Life
  • Utilizing AutoCAD Civil 3D knowledge in projects from concept to completion
  • Drafting and design of water, sanitary and drainage systems; roads, intersections, and parking lots; roads, intersections, and parking lots; and, site grading, retaining walls, and ponds
  • Coordination with Franchise Utilities and interested parties
  • Preparing permit applications
  • Assisting Project Manager/Engineer with day to day project operations
  • Preparing specifications and reports
  • Prepare cost estimates and schedule of quantities
  • Resolving construction issues with the assistance of the site project manager and field supervisors
  • Quantity measurement and compliance support
  • Other duties as assigned
What you’ll bring to WSP ...
  • Civil or Municipal Engineering Technology graduate
  • 2+ years of experience in design and drafting
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings and specs
  • Registered or eligible for registration with ASET
  • Excellent communication skills – written and verbal, including teamwork and interpersonal abilities
  • Comfortable in working independently to meet project deadlines, in both an office and field environment
  • Knowledge of the municipal design guidelines
  • Advanced working knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook also valuable
  • Valid driver’s license
