The Associate Financial Planner’s top priority is supporting financial planners, along with the financial planning and investment processes, to ultimately ensure clients achieve their goals. The end result is fulfilled and engaged clients that have gained clarity, confidence, and peace of mind. The next priority is to advance in the role and learn the competencies necessary to become a fully independent financial planner. Success in these areas will result in:

This is a full-time position with competitive compensation and benefits.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Associate Financial Planner position contributes to the firm’s growth by ensuring exceptional service for both existing clients and prospects. This role demonstrates competency in investment and planning practices to develop financial plans and partner with financial planners and team members to address the specific needs and service issues of clients, as well as acting as relationship manager for designated clients.
Supporting the Financial Planning & Investment Processes
- Coordinate financial plan development, including initial financial plan data entry, and work with lead financial planner to develop recommendations
- Update client review reports with net worth, estate distribution, insurance, income tax, cash flow projections, and investments
- Respond to client inquiries and questions in a timely and accurate manner
- Communicate with clients and other professionals such as lawyers and accountants
- Prepare financial planning reports including financial projections
- Prepare some paperwork and processing of account opening, executing trades, transfers, and follow up on execution
- Perform other duties, as assigned by lead financial planner
- Adhere to all compliance/risk procedures, follow corporate and industry protocols, and protect the interest of the client and the firm at all times
Preparing for and Attending Client Meetings
- Support financial planners with client services, including preparation of well-polished documentation and presentation materials for meetings
- Support preparation for client meetings, including preparing agendas and client meeting materials
- Attend and participate in meetings with prospects, new and existing clients
- Record meeting notes on topics covered, changes in client’s needs, and action items
- Summarize meetings and schedule action items in contact management software (Salesforce)
- Complete all action items utilizing firm processes and procedures
Act as Relationship Manager and Deliver Exceptional Client Services
- Act as the primary point of contact and planner for designated accounts under the direction of a senior financial planner
- Work in conjunction with the senior financial planner to deliver services to clients
- Work with team to ensure all actions for clients are tracked and completed
- Lead initiatives focused on value-add content delivered to clients such as content marketing
- Communicate and follow up regularly with clients about changes or actions required to their accounts
- Develop strong relationships and rapport with clients
EDUCATION AND TRAINING
- Canadian Securities Course preferred
- College or University degree preferred.
- Completion (or working towards) Certified Financial Planner designation
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND CORE COMPETENCIES
- Some industry knowledge and/or experience that may include an understanding of the following core areas: investment, risk management estate planning, and tax (personal/corporate)
- Exhibits a strong desire to develop personal and professional skills, together with knowledge and understanding of investment philosophies and planning practices
- Previous experience with client relationship management is an advantage
- Proficient computer skills including Microsoft office suite, Client Relationship Management (CRM’s) systems, Financial Planning software, etc.
- Excellent verbal and written communication with an ability to create client-facing wealth plans using plain language
- Impeccable time management and organizational skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an ability to think “out of the box”

- A genuine interest and curiosity in others
- Proactive, intuitive, and flexible
- Highly developed interpersonal skills enabling you to identify, and resolve spoken and unspoken needs of clients
