Our Toronto Studio is looking for an Asset Leadtoguide an amazing team of Modeling and Rigging artists on a brand new CG Production!
You’ll get to:

• Lead an assigned Asset team in ensuring that all modeling/rigging deliverables are complete, and in line with the production schedule
• Review and approve all modeling/rigging assets
• Assign work to team members based on individual specialties, and oversee individual progress and performance
• Perform daily one-on-one rounds with asset team and give support by providing artistic direction and assisting with technical difficulties
• Facilitate meetings with artists and keep the crew informed on any production changes and requirements
• Utilize Maya to create models and rigs that meet all technical and creative requirements and are compatible within the production pipeline
• Build and execute complex CG models, obtaining direction from the Art Director and design team on the look and feel of assets
• Create flexible and efficient rigs (including facial shapes)
• Prepare models and rigs for vaulting/publishing to the floor
• Develop and maintain a convention of standards and naming structures for all assets, and ensure that Maya files are clean and optimized
• Aid Production in creating work schedule and ensure that all quotas and deadlines are met
• Anticipate, communicate, and troubleshoot any asset performance issues with assistance from key stakeholders
• Provide creative ideas and solutions to any issues that arise throughout the production
• Maintain awareness of any technical, artistic, and pipeline issues throughout the production
• Attend other department reviews to communicate asset needs and fulfil other departments’ needs
• Keep up to speed with current industry trends and utilize new ideas to benefit the production

This will be your JAM if you have:

• 5+ years CG modeling and rigging experience in a Maya production environment, with proven knowledge of and skills in each (prior supervisory experience is a definite asset)
• Completed post-secondary education in 3D animation or other relevant area of study
• Advanced working knowledge of Maya’s modeling and rigging techniques, with a solid understanding of all checks and requirements needed to deliver a clean and optimized Maya file
• Excellent leadership skills and ability to motivate a team of artists
• Strong background in traditional art with an excellent sense of fundamentals including perspective, form, proportion, and scale
• Excellent understanding of character anatomy (including facial expressions), and an artistic understanding of motion and behavior
• General understanding of animation styles and techniques as well as an excellent comprehension of animation production for film and/or television
• Great comprehension of the animation production pipeline, with an understanding of adjacent department workflows and how modeling and rigging interacts with the overall process
• Superior creative and technical problem-solving skills with the ability to check and critique own work
• Ability to learn quickly and comprehend custom in-house production tools
• Demonstrated ability to work productively and willingness to take initiative in a team environment
• Ability to prioritize tasks, meet tight deadlines, and perform to standard in a fast-paced environment
• Strong scripting skills and good understanding of rigging mechanics
