We are currently looking for a Full-time Animal Control/Bylaw Enforcement Officer to join our busy Animal Care and Control Agency. The ideal applicant will have a solid work ethic, highly motivated, dependable, be able to work independantly, and enjoys interacting with the public and animals in an official capacity. Under the direction of the Director of Operations, you will work as part of a team and be responsible for enforcing the Animal Control Bylaws of the City of Red Deer and some other Counties in our area. Duties include but not limited to phone, email, and in person communication with the public and authorities in regards to Bylaw complaints, responding to such complaints, issuing and processing violation tickets and Bylaw notices, court paperwork and appearance and providing education to the public.

The ideal candidate must have:

*Completion of grade 12

*Completion of post secondary education in Criminal Justice, Police Foundations or similar secondary education or minimum of 2 years work experience in a similar enforcement role.

* Strong knowledge of Municipal and Provincial laws an asset

* Conflict resolution training an asset

* Proficiency in Microsoft office and computer skills

* Experience in documentation and reporting an asset

* Sound judgment, analytical and decision making skills, multitasking and priority setting

* Ability to quickly acquire operational knowledge of the Bylaws and Regulations applicable

* Ability to lift and carry heavy items (animals) and work in all weather conditions

* A valid Alberta Drivers License free of any serious offences

* Clean enhanced criminal record

* Ability to deal with the public tactfully and courteously

* Reside in the City of Red Deer or within close proximity due to being a part of the on-call rotation for afterhours emergencies.

The start rate for this position is based on experience and qualifications.

Salary: $19.00-$28.00 per hour
