As Aircraft Structural analyst, Repair and Liaison - Engineering (Level 3) you will:

The main mandate is to evaluate the discrepancies/damages/wears found by the inspectors and maintenance technicians at Mirabel, design structural repairs, validate using stress analyses (static and fatigue aspects and DTA if required) the viability of the proposed repairs on different military or civilian components and aircraft platforms.

The role implies complex design and analysis assignments. Related tasks are to: review the work of other team members, as well as validate the requirements and make sure the work completed meets the client’s and airworthiness requirements.

Essential Functions
  • Read and understand manufacturing and modification drawings;
  • Investigate faulty or damaged components and assemblies to determine their causes;
  • Design repair solutions to restore "fit, form and function" as well as the structural integrity of the damaged structure;
  • Interpret and integrate data, loading modes and safety factors according to established specifications and standards (MIL-STD, PS or others), and validate design criteria;
  • Analyze, using conventional calculation methods and / or finite element methods, the materials strength (metallic and composite), including fatigue and damage tolerance;
  • Initiation to the principles of airworthiness (classifying or categorizing damage (minor / major);
  • Support activities related to the incorporation of repairs and modifications;
  • Check repair concepts and analyzes;
  • Act as an intermediary with the managers, the aircraft maintenance / repair team and the engineering team for any derogation issues.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, aeronautics or equivalent experience required;
  • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in aeronautics required: preferably in stress analysis, fatigue & damage tolerance analyses;
  • Experience on the CF-18 platform an important asset;
  • Experience as an MRB Eng and with Airworthiness principles are an asset;
  • Master one or more of the following software: NASTRAN, PATRAN, Hypermesh, MSOffice, CATIA and / or Matlab;
  • Ability to read drawings;
  • Essential bilingualism (French and English);
  • Experience with military and / or military specifications and standards a major asset.
  • Experience in manufacturing / repairing composite materials an important asset;
  • Experience in production or maintenance environment required;
  • Hold a NATO Secret security clearance or be eligible for this rating on short notice.
  • Soft skill: being a team player, resourceful, organized, being capable to prioritize in a short delay environment, customer oriented, have strong problem solving skills, ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
Operational Requirements
  • Must be eligible for registration to the Controlled Goods Program;
  • Must be eligible to obtaining and maintaining the government of Canada’s “Reliability” status and Level 2 (Secret) security clearance;
  • Location not accessible via public transportation, car required.
