Report To: Solution Architect | Service: Information Systems

Reporting to the Solution Architect, the IT Manager will have the hands-on responsibility for supporting and continuously improving Fastco’s IT infrastructure. The IT Manager will also aid in managing and upporting the IT network and help desk for employees seeking workstation, application, and connectivity related support. The company’s main infrastructures operate in a hybrid Microsoft environment.

This position requires you to respond to and provide after-hours support during emergencies or escalated issues with the possibility of travel as needed.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Monitor and supervise IT systems and staff.
  • Support Level 1 and Level 2 incidents while providing quality and timely fixes.
  • Manage and maintain Fastco’s ITSM system while upholding industry best practices and
    company policies.
  • Evaluate, build, and install IT hardware and software.
  • Manage IT Projects while adhering to strict timelines.
  • Ensure IT security is maintained in accordance with Fastco’s IT security policies.
  • Create and maintain documentation of configuration, operation, and troubleshooting
    procedures.
  • Collaborate with different squads of the IS team on various application and infrastructure
    projects.
  • Maintain inventory of hardware, software, and permissions.
  • Manage and coordinate all IT-related matters including data, wired, wireless, telephony, and
    security technologies.
  • Contribute to the support of Fastco’s DRS environment — Assist in monthly DRBC simulations.
  • Contribute and support major IT tasks and projects such as system updates, upgrades,
    migrations, and outages.
  • Identify opportunities to improve and update applications and systems.
  • Maintain a good relationship with vendors and negotiate best pricing.
  • Contribute and adhere to the annual IT Budget.
  • Other ad hoc tasks related to IT as reasonably required.

ACADEMIC ASPECTS AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED

  • University degree, college diploma or equivalent industry training in a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years in a similar position.
  • Certifications such as Microsoft, Cisco, CompTIA, and PMP are considered assets.
  • Familiar with the TCP/IP and OSI models.
  • Fluent in both English and French; Excellent verbal and written English is a must.
  • IT Networking experience (knowledge of Sophos and Fortinet products is desired).
  • Superior hardware and software knowledge.
  • Strong experience in Project Management.
  • Windows and Linux server administration experience (installation, deployment,
    maintenance, troubleshooting).
  • Experience with VMware and Hyper-V products.
  • M365, Azure, and/or GCP experience is an asset.
  • Experience with cloud-based ERP systems is an asset (knowledge of SAP is desired).
  • Knowledge of IT standards (ITIL, ISO/IEC 27001).
  • Knowledge of the automobile industry is an asset.

This position may require occasional travel within Canada.
