Reporting through the Office of the Chief Information Officer, the Information Communication Technologies [“ICT”] team leads the Province’s direction on telecom services for BC public sector clients. The team manages large, complex telecom service procurements and contracts and provides leadership, expertise, tools, and supports to our clients for telecom services. The Information Communication Technologies team delivers on this mandate through its Telecom Office, Telecom Services Sourcing and Telecom Advisory Services branches.

Telecom Advisory Services branch has the mandate to provide technical and business support both internally to the ICT team in addition to our client groups. The branch works closely with our client groups to explore innovations and changes within the telecom sector, assess and determine impact and applicability, assist our internal team in procurement and onboarding, and facilitate technical collaboration, workshops and industry analysis.

JOB OVERVIEW

The Senior Telecom Analyst is responsible for providing industry technical expertise and participating in the development and delivery of the vision, strategy, and roadmaps for ICT’s Telecom Office and client groups.

The role will be instrumental to achieve the ministry mandate and business priorities, as well as how specific technologies will impact the broader telecom services lifecycle, ensuring maximum business value and cost-effectiveness of provincial telecom services procurement.

Working with clients, including cross-ministry partners, business and technical subject matter and industry experts, vendors and product representatives, this position will ensure the successful realization of a technology portfolio roadmap to achieve the longer-term service delivery mandate for the Province.

Job Requirements:

  • Degree, diploma, certification or equivalent in the computer science field.
  • Experience working at a senior level in a large network environment and in implementing and/or supporting a large integrated application.
  • Experience with data network operations policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Experience providing senior level technical expertise in both the development and implementation phase in the ongoing development of the network.

About this Position:

Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.

Currently we have a temporary appointment available until May 31, 2024, which may be extended or become permanent.
