Irrigation Pipelayer and Excavator Operator

Southern Irrigation is actively looking for a Full-Time Irrigation Pipelayer and Excavator Operator for our Chilliwack location. The successful candidate should excel in customer service, have good communication skills, and a positive attitude.

Job Title: Irrigation Pipelayer and Excavator Operator

Rate of Pay:$30-$40/hr

Location: 44160 Yale Road West, Chilliwack, BC

Job purpose:This position’s primary responsibility is to assist with installation projects ensuring installations are completed on time with exceptional workmanship while maintaining a high level of customer service.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist with installations; primarily in greenhouses, farms, and other growing operations
  • Safely and efficiently operate excavator (trenching, backfilling, grading)
  • Measure, cut and glue pipe, fittings and components in PVC
  • Measure, cut, and fuse pipe, fittings, and components in HDPE
  • Fit, assemble, thread, fuse and install various types, sizes, and schedules of metal, steel and polyethylene pipe and pipefittings as necessary to complete installation.
  • Pre-fabricate manifolds
  • Lay and connect drain line
  • Flush lines
  • Transport materials and equipment to job sites as required
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, always providing the best in quality service and value
  • Troubleshoot issues to determine the best solution for the customer

Competencies/Qualifications

• Highly organized with a strong attention to detail and able to work in a fast-paced environment
• Experienced with HDPE pipe fusing, fusing equipment and pipe laying
• Valid HDPE Fusion ticket
• Skilled excavator operator: Able to cut grade on trenches, dig around utilities, overhead
• Skilled skid steer operator: Able to grade, backfill, and carry loads of pipe safely
• Able to safely load and unload equipment on to trailers
