CBCL is seeking an Intermediate Electrical Engineer to join our Buildings Engineering team inOttawa, ON!

As our ideal candidate, you have experience with designing building electrical systems, in the areas of low and medium voltage power, telecommunications, fire alarm, low voltage system raceways, lighting, lighting controls and commissioning, as well as energy efficiency, greenhouse gas reduction, climate resiliency, and renewable energy design & assessment. You are a motivated self-starter, who is excited to participate with an established team of professional engineers and technologists in developing innovative multidisciplinary building design solutions, with an emphasis on client satisfaction and design practices.


Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist a design team to prepare contract documents for the following systems: power, fire alarm, communications, lighting and lighting controls, exterior site services;
  • Design of new construction and renovations of building projects such as healthcare, laboratory, offices, recreational, and residential;
  • Perform engineering calculations and research code
  • Coordinate design support staff across multiple disciplines and office locations;
  • Manage projects to meet budget and deliverables;
  • Meet and liaise with clients;
  • Assisting with business development and proposals;
  • Perform site investigation to establish preliminary conditions such as zoning requirements, equipment locations, and site constraints;
  • Perform building condition assessments and reports;
  • Perform construction administration and field reviews; and
  • Document, plan, and conduct commissioning and start-up activities.

Your Capabilities and Credentials:

  • Undergraduate degree in Electrical or Power Engineering;
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer in Canada with eligibility for registration with
    Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO);
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the design of electrical systems for residential, commercial, and industrial buildings;
  • Additional professional accreditations such as PMP, LEED AP, etc. are an asset;
  • Familiarity in the design of electrical systems using AutoCAD and Revit;
  • Detail-oriented, organized, hardworking, with a team player attitude;
  • Performs well under pressure to meet deadlines;
  • Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to obtain government of Canada security clearance; and
  • Valid driver’s license and be able to travel to job sites across Canada, primarily within Ontario.
