The Opportunity

AES is a leader in the design of electrical, lighting, and technology systems for buildings and infrastructure. We are hiring for Intermediate Electrical Designers (Engineer-in-Training | EIT) with minimum 3-years experience to join our Kelowna-based team.

As part of the team at AES, you will contribute to designing building electrical systems for diverse facilities that may include tenant improvements, base-building upgrades, electric vehicle charging stations, and new multi-family development projects. Your responsibilities include designing power, lighting, fire alarm, and communications systems; and ensuring electrical design details are integrated into the working drawings.

This opportunity is ideal for candidates working towards their P.Eng. designation and seeking exposure to a wide variety of project experiences.

In this Role, You Will

  • Work under the direction of Project Managers to develop construction document packages in AutoCAD
  • Work with Lighting Designers to develop and verify lighting models to support construction packages
  • Provide support for plotting and sending electronic file submissions
  • Research to source equipment and other vendors
  • Oversee construction and completion process
  • Liaise with Architects, Interior Designers and other professionals

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in the construction industry, with electrical projects associated with buildings
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and various other construction documentation
  • Knowledge of industry-specific codes and standards (CEC, ASHRAE, BCBC, NECB, etc.)
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to quickly absorb and use company-specific techniques, standards and procedures
  • Strong communication skills to coordinate with clients and other disciplines (Architectural, Mechanical, etc.)
  • Detail-oriented with excellent grammar and punctuation skills
  • Ability to work within a team environment
  • Work ethic and discipline
  • Organized and able to prioritize various tasks and have a flexible approach to assignments
  • Willingness to meet quick deadlines and handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment

Additional Desirable Qualifications

  • Knowledge and experience with Revit and Building Information Modeling (BIM)
  • Experience with lighting design and lighting controls
  • LEED certification
