ABOUT THE POSITION

The Intermediate Designer is a team player with the ability to receive and execute instructions from the Team Leader/Associate with minimal supervision.
Proficient operating knowledge of AutoCAD and REVIT is preferred.
Excellent communication skills are required.
Flexibility to deal with changing priorities, and the ability to respond to critical situations systematically and reliably.
The incumbent is responsible for directing and supervising junior designers and production staff within their team.

Responsibilities:

Provide technical assistance to the Team Leader/Associate as follows:

Set up and maintain design files
Review architectural plans and propose telecommunications spaces
Perform cabling and equipment sizing and fill calculations for security (intrusion, access control, CCTV), backbone and horizontal IT infrastructure (Voice, Data, Wireless), Public Address and MNS.
Familiarity with Audio Visual (AV) applications for various collaboration spaces and selection of equipment based on
Design telecommunications, security & AV systems with minimal supervision.
LV control design layout and final design with minimal supervision
Create detailed and accurate installation drawings and schedules based on engineering plans and supplier product information; coordinate with suppliers and vendors on product applications.
Ensure Integral design checklist is being followed.
Ensure Integral AutoCAD/BIM Standards are being followed.
Prepare or confirm all equipment, devices and cabling selections using client standards and recommendations.
Coordinate telecommunications and security requirements with other disciplines involved in the project design team (i.e. Architects, Structural Consultants, Mechanical and Electrical, Code Consultants, Acoustical Consultants, etc.)
Co-ordinate or confirm service requirements/connections with the respective utility and/or municipal agencies
Assist Team Lead in preparation of specifications.
Attend project progress meetings as delegated, provide updates for Team Leader (including field reviews to monitor project construction status)

Qualifications:

3+ years design experience in Low Voltage systems including but not limited to security and communications systems, and lighting control systems in the ICI space. BIM/Revit experience is preferrable.
Experience in working on low voltage/technology (structured cabling, security, AV) multi disciplinary projects.
Ability to read Architectural, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical drawings.
Ability to apply prescriptive requirements of electrical and telecommunications building services engineering codes and standards.
Ability to perform detailed site surveys and coordinate with site teams.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills both inside and outside the office.
Able to “sketch” ideas.
Able to communicate ideas effectively in meetings with architects and consultants.
P.Eng or registered with P.E.O. working towards P.Eng.
RCDD, CTS credentials are an asset or working towards these.
Knowledge of codes and standards such as CEC, OESC, OBC, BICSI, AVIXA, TIA, ULC, NFPA.
