CIMT College is currently hiring instructors to teach Business Administration courses and programs and would be responsible to train students and provide required skills and knowledge to graduate from Business Management Courses that prepares students for positions within the fields of accounting, marketing, business, human resources, project management, and office administration.

Knowledge and Skills required:

  • Demonstrate a thorough and accurate knowledge of their field or discipline.
  • Display an ability to interpret and evaluate the theories of their field or discipline.
  • Connect their subject matter with related fields.
  • Stay current in their subject matter through professional development, through involvement in professional organizations, and attending professional meetings, conference or workshops.
  • Learn and use technology to enhance teaching and the educational experience when appropriate.

In addition to the usual abilities stated above that are required to instruct any CIMT College course, the instructor must have the following specific skills in order to teach Professional Skills classes:

  • Internet skills
  • A keen eye for detail: the instructor will personally review and edit every résumé to ensure that it is absolutely perfect
  • Attire and Professionalism

o The instructor must personify success, and represent what employers are seeking

o Attire must be professional at all time (hair, make-up, shoes, accessories, etc.), so the instructor becomes a representation to the students of the proper way to dress

o Attire must be conservative and professional

  • English and GrammarAdvanced skills

o Perfection is required with résumés and cover letters… including grammar and punctuation

o Vocabulary must be advanced

  • Placement Knowledge:

o Understanding what employers are looking for from potential candidates

o Understanding the different types of interviews

o Knowing how to answer interview questions in order to prepare students effectively

o A background in placement is a preferred but not required component of the course to give confidence to the students that the instructor is well versed in the subject

o Being able to draw from personal experience in placement to present stories of success makes the course come alive

o The instructor must have familiarity with how to research job search sites, salary ranges, employment opportunities, etc.

  • Microsoft WordAdvanced skills, including but not limited to:

o Customizing bullets

o Inserting page borders

o Page borders

o Customizing fonts: Shadowing, Small caps, Character spacing

o Inserting and customizing pictures

o Understanding text wrapping for picture layout

o Saving documents as PDF for transmitting to employers and to save customized font choices

o The instructor must be able to teach students how to create a résumé package using images, graphics, fonts, and designs

o It is not acceptable to use Microsoft templates to create the résumé package

o Choosing pictures and saving for MS Word

Job Duties:

Teaching Performance

  • Teach a course load appropriate to the field of Business and professional skill areas
  • Plan and organize instruction in ways that maximize student learning
  • Employ appropriate teaching and learning strategies to communicate subject matter to students.
  • Modify, where appropriate, instructional methods and strategies to meet diverse student’s needs.
  • Employ available instructional technology, i.e. the Internet, interactive technology, when appropriate.
  • Encourage the development of communication skills and higher order thinking skills through appropriate assignments.
  • Contribute to the selection and development of instructional materials in accordance with course objectives.

Evaluation of Student Learning

  • Establish and follow meaningful learning objectives.
  • Develop and explain methods that fairly measure student progress toward course objectives.
  • Evaluate student performance fairly and consistently and return student work promptly to promote maximum learning
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and submit final grades to Campus Manager according to established deadlines.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to student needs and circumstances.

Qualifications Required :

  • Have 48 months of work experience in the Business and Accounting areas
  • Have 36 months of teaching experience in the vocation and 24 months work experience in the vocation
  • Have 24 months work experience in the vocation and AND
  • Hold a Bachelor degree from a Canadian university or an equivalent degree in related discipline
  • Graduate of a College of Applied Arts and Technology or equivalent
  • Graduate of a registered PCC or equivalent

Part-time hours: 25-30 per week
