The Northern Alberta YMCA is looking for a Child and Youth Instructor to provide quality instruction throughout our programs and ensure high-service delivery.

Position Responsibilities
  • Be an active participant in reaching volunteer and recruitment goals.
  • Have strong communication skills and maintain consistent communication with staff, volunteers, and members.
  • Address member (parental) concerns and complaints in a timely manner, following YMCA expectations.
  • Ensure administrative duties related to programs and members are accurately and effectively completed as assigned by the coordinator.
  • Facilitate high-quality programs and activities for program members by providing age appropriate activities and integrating international development education in all program areas.
  • Supervise members and volunteers during programming, manage behavior in accordance with the Child/Youth Behavior Management and Abuse policy. Member etiquette is to be monitored and reinforced.
  • Ensure programs start and finish on time.
  • Ensure program schedules have a variety of options and times.
  • Work as a flexible team member and assist in various tasks as needed.
  • Program Schedule includes a variety of program times and options, Follow the YMCA audit process for program quality assurance.
  • Make sure equipment is being inspected by staff and volunteers, and appropriate actions are taken to maintain it.
  • Ensure all safety documents are completed accurately, all sign-in and out procedures for parents are followed, and staff is following head counts and maintaining ratios.

What
You’ll Need for This Job
  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is an asset
  • Early Childhood development or related experience is an asset
  • NCCP Level 1 or 2 is an asset
  • Complete additional training within 3 months of hire
  • Certifications: Standard First Aid & CPR-C
  • Able to obtain a Police Information Check and Vulnerable sector check
