TransGroup Canada Logistics dba Scan Global Logistics is a Freight Forwarding organization that provides transportation, warehousing, and specialized logistics solutions, coupled with software tailored to meet the specific needs of each individual customer.

The Position:

Reporting to the VP of Operations, the Human Resources Manager will contribute to the success of the HR department by providing the highest quality support to the multiple sites within Canada (approximately 100 employees). The HR Manager will increase the presence and accessibility of the Human Resources department by providing support of a confidential and complex nature, primarily in the areas of benefits administration, leave administration, payroll support, compliance, onboarding, employee data management, and policy & procedure development & communication.

Responsibilities & Key Deliverables:

  • Be a trusted advisor to employees, supporting them on day-to-day HR matters, company policies, procedures, and benefit related questions
  • Find proactive and creative solutions for a broad range of day-to-day HR issues that surface
  • Researching compensation and facilitating discussions related to compensation. * Coordinating and assessing the benefits plan in collaboration with our benefits broker. * Assisting in shaping employee recognition programs and social events to help drive the company culture.
  • Develop and maintain projects to support the group of businesses to support business initiatives, strategy, and culture. * Remaining aware of employee training & development needs and organizing educational sessions.
  • Sharing your knowledge of HR legislation and Employment Standards Act, while obtaining legal consult when applicable.
  • Participates in health and safety reviews of various business units to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Help drive and support select HR initiatives from concept, successful execution, and rollout strategies
  • Assist with the day-to-day administration of the Leave of Absence process, & reporting.
  • Partnership with Payroll Generalist, at times providing backup support to Payroll Generalist.
  • New hire orientation & onboarding.
  • Benefits administration (including annual enrollment support, training, communication & overall support to employees).
  • Maintain accurate and updated electronic employee records & files, assuring compliance with all applicable governmental regulations.
  • Run reports and gather data for metrics and other reporting purposes.
  • Assist with employee handbook & rollout.
  • Support performance management process.
  • Stay up to date with the latest benefits, compensation, and recognition data/trends.
  • Support separation process when necessary.

Experience & Competencies Required for Success:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 3-5+ years of progressive payroll and HR management experience
  • Broad knowledge of employment, benefits, compensation, employee relations, training & development, onboarding, payroll, HR audits & compliance.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong client relationships, demonstrated by follow-through on commitments and ensuring a high level of service quality.
  • Understanding of BC Employment Standards Act, Human Rights Code and other applicable legislation.
  • Experience using HRIS applications to support internal customers and operations.
  • Experience developing training documents & participating in virtual and in-person training programs.
  • Experiencing successfully managing multiple projects at one time
  • Ability to work collaboratively at all levels of the organization to influence and achieve results.
  • Clear track record of getting things done in a timely & efficient manner.
  • Ability to remain flexible, juggle multiple priorities, & change directions as needed.
  • Excellent writing and speaking skills; this individual must be able to communicate ideas and information clearly and concisely
  • Outstanding planning and organization skills.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Creative problem-solving and time management skills. Great attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, Word & Outlook.
  • Technical savviness & past experience working in various internal organizational systems successfully.
