We have a newly created role at Katzie First Nation, suited for someone with an administrative background and an interest in Human Resources. The position is versatile and will grow as the incumbent does.

Designed to accommodate an 18-to-24-hour work week, this on-site part-time HR Administrator will support the HR Department and the Katzie First Nation Administration. Reporting to the HR Manager, this junior role is tasked with transactional HR responsibilities, ensuring that the essential HR functions are tracked, documented, and executed on time.

In addition to HR responsibilities, this role will lend a hand to the general band office administration when needed. This can include fill-in reception, running errands for Nation events, document preparation, or filing.

What you will be responsible for:

Recruitment and Onboarding

  • Assist in posting job openings through BambooHR.
  • Screen resumes and communicate with candidates.
  • Coordinate interview logistics, including interview room setup and candidate communication.
  • Facilitate the onboarding process for new hires, including paperwork, orientation, and training arrangements.

Employee Record Management

  • Maintains employee information in BambooHR – processes wage changes, transfers, promotions, and terminations.
  • Notify Payroll and IT Department of employee changes.

Benefits

  • Support benefits enrollment and changes and address employee inquiries regarding benefits packages.
  • Update employee information with Benefits Provider.
  • Complete the monthly billing reconciliation.
  • Collaboration with Finance to ensure accurate payroll processing of premium deductions.

Administrative Support

  • Updating and distribution of monthly Org Chart.
  • Assist in generating HR-related reports and documents as needed.
  • Drafting and reviewing HR paperwork for proper completion.
  • Files employee performance reviews and sends reminders to supervisors about upcoming and outstanding reviews.
  • Casual fill-in reception
  • Assist with event preparation and clean-up.

What you bring to the position:

  • A minimum of 2 years’ administrative experience.
  • A post-secondary education in Business Administration or Human Resources is preferred.
  • CPHR (Chartered Professional in Human Resources) membership is an asset but not required.
  • Genuine respect for Katzie First Nations culture and protocols.
  • Embraces and actively promotes an inclusive and equitable work environment.
  • Familiar with provincial and federal employment standards legislation
  • Understanding recruitment and performance management best practices and standard Human Resource tools like HRIS and ATS.
  • Proficient with Adobe and Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to work with high confidentiality and superior attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and an ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Flexibility and the ability to handle a diverse and complex workload respectfully, timely, and effectively responding to requests and queries.
  • Valid Class 5 Drivers and clean driver’s abstract with regular access to reliable transportation.
