POSITION DESCRIPTION

We are looking for dedicated and hardworking labourers to work in our greenhouse. To get healthy plants to customers, we require a team of people to make that happen successfully. Tasks vary from executing seeding, moving plants into the grow trays and from there to the conveyors, cleaning and sanitizing rooms, structures, and machinery, among other physical tasks. This is a fast-paced multi-cultural environment; applicants must be able to work in environments with temperatures that go from 2 °C to 30 °C or higher, depending on the weather, and must be able to stand for long periods of time doing repetitive tasks. Workload may vary from day to day.

RESPONSIBILITIES

· Preparing and operating the seeder according to the instructions.

· Move rafts and leafy greens in specially designated areas within the greenhouse from and to different rooms and environments.

· Noticing and eliminating any potential element that may prevent healthy plant growth.

· Performing daily maintenance operations on plants such as watering, weeding, and pruning.

· Repair non-complex problems associated to the irrigation system

· Operate machinery and equipment, such as seeder, harvester, washer, among others.

· Using machinery to move heavy materials.

· Maintaining optimal levels of inventory for various types of greenhouse materials and equipment.

· Keeping the working areas and the visiting areas clean.

· Adhere to all safety and hygiene procedures throughout the greenhouse, warehouse, and lunchroom.

· Follow company policies and procedures.

REQUIRED SKILLS

· Good command of English is essential.

· Applicants will need to be in good physical health condition to carry out the required labour responsibilities as the job involves repetitive tasks and standing for long periods of time.

· Legally entitled to work in Canada upon application.

Schedule:

· 8 hour shift

· Day or night shift

· Tuesday to Saturday or Saturday to Thursday (subject to change with advance notice)

· Pitt Meadows, BC: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Salary: $17.00-$18.00 per hour
