About This Role

Reporting to the Vice President, Marketing and Sustainability, Intelligent Spaces Group, you will lead the global marketing strategy for Distech Controls, including teams in both Canada and France.

You are an experienced, insightful and bilingual communications and marketing leader with a record of success in complex, fast-paced, multi-stakeholder environments. Colleagues respect and value your interpersonal skills, sound and analytical counsel and evidence informed decision-making. Technologically savvy and current on best practices, you have had great success developing and delivering innovative digital and social media strategies, demand generation campaigns, and securing strong brand positioning.

How You Will Contribute

  • Leadership
  • Develop, implement, and maintain a long-term cohesive marketing and communications strategy for the business
  • Work with Distech Controls leadership, staff and clients to understand and anticipate the future marketing needs of the business and develop innovative solutions
  • Develop targets, indicators, and tools to evaluate the success of the team in relation to the strategy
  • Serve on the leadership team to determine strategic direction for the company, set goals, monitor performance, and contribute to decision-making
  • Act as “Distech Controls Champion” in cross-functional initiatives and meetings, including serving as the Distech Controls marketing point-person within the broader Acuity Brands demand generation team
  • Monitor project pipeline and progress, and strategically deploy resources to fulfill company objectives
  • Develop and manage global marketing budget
  • People
  • Supervise, evaluate performance, and hire a diversely skilled marketing team in both Brossard, Canada and Lyon, France
  • Provide structure while maintaining space for your direct reports to flourish in their respective roles, which span across product marketing, social media, tradeshows and events, end-customer engagement, and corporate branding
  • Work with HR to develop reporting team members, including training and coaching
  • Marketing and Communications
  • Oversee comprehensive demand generation and awareness campaigns, with strong call to actions and clear conversion funnels, that align with annual key priorities and product/solution releases
  • Provide guidance and final approval on communications, messaging and materials:
  • Channel (client, influencer) communications, including email and newsletters
  • Product and solution releases
  • Product update notices, service announcements and other, in link with client support processes
  • Tradeshow and customer events globally
  • Guide team in utilizing earned, paid, digital media and PR tactics to achieve strategic communications goals
  • Oversee the brand positioning and evolution over time to keep it fresh and relevant
  • Stay current on latest trends and best practices, provide insight and guidance to company leadership and internal teams on topics related to strategic communications.
  • Work with global product management, customer support and sales team to identify and support required local market adaptation of communications

Qualification Required

  • A minimum of 8 years’ relevant experience
  • Bachelor’s degree, in marketing or communications, required
  • Strong knowledge of marketing, and communications strategic practices and tools, including CRM, analytics, and conversion funnels
  • Excellent written and oral communication, and superior organizational skills
  • Primary language for this position is English. French conversational skills required; other languages an asset
  • Detail-oriented, with superior project management and follow-through skills
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, solve problems and work under tight deadlines
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams or matrix organization preferred
  • Experience in Building Management, HVAC or lighting controls industry considered a strong asset
  • Strong relationship building/relationship management skills and proven ability to interact with all levels of an organization
  • Work well under pressure, in a fast-paced, high-volume and often ambiguous/fast-changing environment and can effectively and professionally handle tough issues
  • Supporter of lean management practices and standard work
  • Must be able and willing to travel
