General Accountant

Penn-co Construction is a leading construction company currently looking for a General Accountant to join our team in Blumenort, Manitoba. If you have a passion for numbers, accuracy, and problem-solving, then you might be the ideal candidate for the General Accountant position. The General Accountant will work collaboratively with the Accounting Department to deliver timely and accurate financial results.

Responsibilities

• Actively support a broad range of accounting activities including the accurate and timely execution of month-end and year-end processes
• Ensure operational activities are accurately reflected in the general ledger
• Calculate, prepare, and post journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation
• Complete balance sheet and income statement account reconciliations and analysis
• Assist with tax and regulatory compliance requirements
• Prepare bank reconciliations and support cash flow management
• Proactively identify and implement accounting process continuous improvement opportunities
• Deliver exceptional customer service and professional correspondence for all stakeholders
• Perform other accounting and administration duties as required

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in Business Administration, or similar designation and relevant experience required
• Progress toward attainment of a CPA would be an asset
• Knowledge of ASPE principles and practices; related tax experience would be an asset
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including advanced Excel skills
• Proven attention to detail, problem solving, and analytical skills
• Driven to meet deadlines with the ability to multitask and prioritize
• Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Self-starter with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
