Overview of the Team:

CM2 supports Marketing, PR, Digital and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) activities at General Motors Canada Company. CM2 is based at GM’s Canadian headquarters in Oshawa, and aligned with the vehicle sales and service activities of GM.

General Motors of Canada Company (GM) markets Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, and Cadillac vehicles through Canada’s largest dealer network, as well as OnStar services. As an integral member of the CM2 team, the Front End Developer is generally responsible for providing technical expertise in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Adobe Creative Suite. The Front End Developer is responsible for developing and implementing communication templates for use in PR and relationship marketing campaigns, and marketing automation solutions for General Motors of Canada Company.

In this position, you will work with Development, Creative, Account, and Management teams, to understand business requirements, and develop templates using HTML, CSS, JQuery, and Adobe Creative Suite.

Key Activities:

• Development and support of on-going marketing projects (email, website, UX design)
• Provide support for development staff
• Contribute to the design of marketing communications
• Production and optimization of graphic files
• Responsible for coding complex email designs including mobile templates
• Ensure coding standards are followed, and an appropriate level of documentation is maintained
• Facilitate and improve the skills, knowledge, and competence of others through collaboration
• Develop relationships with key systems users in order to understand and respond to performance and troubleshooting needs
• Diagnose causes of user issues and ensures that individual users get appropriate response to issues that are identified
• Assist in writing detailed technical and functional specifications documentation for external creative partners
• Work in an advisory capacity with external production and creative partners.

Minimum Skills, Experience, and Education:

• Two years of experience coding HTML, CSS, JavaScript
• Two years of experience working with Adobe Creative Suite
• Experience developing and testing across multiple browsers, platforms, etc
• Experience coding HTML templates (including mobile), and testing compatibility in different clients
• Experience in UX design and development is an asset
• Experience with image production techniques using Photoshop
• Experience with layout production techniques using InDesign
• Able to shift between a creative and a technical focus depending project needs
• Demonstrated ability to accurately estimate and scope development work
• Strong attention to detail
• Understanding of good design principles and an ability to adhere to complex design specifications during implementation
• Strong inter-personal and communication skills, interacting positively with users, peers, and upper management
• Familiar with the PR and Direct Marketing industries
• Post-secondary education in computer science, graphic design, or a related discipline
