Tunnel Surveyor

Responsibilities:

• Complete various field survey requests and measurements as assigned, including but not limited to:
  • Total Station accurate set of angels and high accuracy levelling lops for tunnel control network maintenance
  • Total Station/3D scanner operation for Ring As-Builts
  • Other underground survey layouts and as-builts as for crossings
  • TBM guidance (VMT)
  • Other Tunnel and Surface works as required
• Set up and configure survey equipment
• Ensure equipment is maintained and calibrated
• Maintain and verify provided control network
• Assist in the evaluation of potential field problems, quantity calculations and quality control
• Maintain accurate survey notes and records, documentation, and stamped submittals
• Monitor work being completed in the field where surveying techniques are required
• Communicate with operations, engineers, and subcontractors to complete surveying tasks
• Manage As Built information and digital records

Qualifications:

• Post-secondary education in Surveying or Geomatics preferred
• Minimum 5 years of experience in Tunnel Surveying, including TBM guidance systems (VMT/Herrenknecht preferred)
• Construction experience in Civil, Structural, Utilities and other areas is an asset
• Knowledge of survey practices and standards
• Knowledge of engineering design and survey methods
• Must have a solid understanding of safety requirements on an active construction site and applicable safety policies
• Good computer skills and proficiency using office, data, surveying and CAD software
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and organizational skills
• Ability to perform work underground.
• Ability to bend, stoop, reach and lift 35 kg/75 lbs

This position may require rotational shifts of up to 12 hours. Rotational shifts may include an “on-call” time in which the surveyor must be available to come to the site within a limited and reasonable time.
