Job Description


In the role of Treasury Accountant, you will be a part of MLSE’s multifaceted and engaging Finance team, responsible for supporting Treasury for MLSE (Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment). You will report directly to the Manager, Treasury assisting with recording, preparing and the reporting of daily general entries. You will analyze and prepare month-end journal entries and reconcile balance sheet accounts. You possess a high degree of administrative acumen and organization and can work independently with little direct supervision.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage 10+ bank accounts and record all banking transactions on a weekly basis.
  • Prepare weekly cheques for deposit.
  • Monitor account balances and initiating a funding request
  • Support the bank account opening and closing processes, obtain required documentation, signatures and assist with KYC processes.
  • Prepare wire authorization requests and obtaining approvals.
  • Preparation of daily cash flow and recommending investments.
  • NSF/ Stop payment vouchers and monitoring issued cheques to the bank.
  • Retrieve backup from bank regarding retail and event sales, unidentifiable bank transactions, and credit card charge backs.
  • Analyze and prepare month-end journal entries and reconciliation of related balance sheet accounts.
  • Collaborate with IT, banks, AP, and AR to maintain uninterrupted flow of funds
  • Prepare weekly payroll eft and company wires accurately and on a timely basis
  • Monitor ticket sales related deposits and process payment vouchers to be sent to the ticketing administration team.
  • Participate in special projects and perform other related assignments as requested.

Qualifications

  • You are highly analytical and detail oriented, with a focus on continuous improvement
  • You have strong interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills
  • You possess a keen ability to build and lead effective working relationships with other departments and external partners
  • You demonstrate initiative and can work independently and as part of a team
  • You can adhere to strict deadlines and set priorities as required
  • You have earned a post graduate degree or diploma preferably in Business Administration, Finance or Commerce
  • You have a minimum of 2 to 3 years of relevant accounting experience
  • You are enrolled in or in the process of acquiring a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation
  • You have an outstanding understanding of MS Office and are a wizard with MS Excel!
  • Your experience with Oracle Cloud ERP makes you an asset
