Our team of health professionals includes employees, doctors, researchers, learners and volunteers that provide the health care or services you may need. This is accomplished across four geographic management zones which are responsible for the operation of acute care health centres and the provision of a variety of inpatient, outpatient services including academic, tertiary, quaternary care and community based programs and services including continuing care, primary health care, public health, and mental health and addictions.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Program Manager and working in cooperation with the Recreation Therapist, the Therapeutic Assistant assists in the provision of health, health promotion and therapeutic services to the rehabilitation population. The Therapeutic Assistant will work cooperatively and collaboratively with the interdisciplinary treatment team in carrying out the individual’s treatment program and communicating patient-specific information that will enhance the level of knowledge of the treatment team

Qualifications
  • Completion of College Diploma in Therapeutic Recreation preferred
  • Completion of University Degree in Recreation Therapy preferred
  • May be considered if enrolled and completed minimally one year of education in Therapeutic Recreation program (College or University)
  • BCLS
  • Non-Violence Crisis Intervention (NVCI) Training an asset
  • Behaviour Modification Skills
  • Leisure/Recreation related knowledge and skills to support patient care plans for transition
  • Understanding of a multi-disciplinary treatment team approaches within acute care and along the continuum of care
  • Understanding of patient populations in acute care with cognitive and/or responsive behaviors
  • Competencies in other languages preferred; French an asset
Hours of Work
  • Five (5) casual relief positions
Seven days per week with shifts ranging from 4 to 12 hours

Salary Information

$20.5134 - $22.3732/hourly
