Reporting to the Director, Capital Markets Portfolio Strategy, the primary focus of the Analyst is to provide support in the development of Capital Markets overall strategy. This may include activities relating to capital allocation, investment strategy, portfolio design, performance evaluation, business model best practices, operating plan development and investment & thematic research.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform data analysis to profile the overall portfolio including details pertaining to use of capital, leverage, expected return, risk and diversification
Assist in providing portfolio breakdown of underlying investment programs and strategies
Conduct investment research relating to emerging public market investment strategies and approaches
Assist in identifying and communicating long-term trends using primarily secondary research covering broad range of macro-level topics such as electric vehicles, quantum computing and innovative healthcare
Maintain databases, presentations, and tools for Capital Markets Portfolio Strategy team
Assist in the preparation of internal and external reports, including collecting, organizing and exploring information from a variety of sources
Manage competing priorities and support the initiatives of the Capital Markets Portfolio Strategy team as needed

QUALIFICATIONS:
Enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree in Business or related subject
Strong background in methodologies used to perform portfolio analysis (e.g., portfolio risk/return characteristics, portfolio efficiency metrics, top-down analysis)
Some knowledge in asset allocation, portfolio design, portfolio theory and broad range of investment securities
Strong research, writing and analytical capabilities with an innate curiosity to stay ahead of trends and continually learn about new topics with an interest in portfolio strategy/construction
Ability to synthesize complex topics into a level appropriate for presentation to senior management
Familiarity with financial database software such as Bloomberg and/or Pitchbook is an asset
High attention to detail that complements ability to see the big picture
Proficiency of MS Excel and PowerPoint
Polished communication and presentation skills
Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to build relationships across OMERS
Ability to prioritize competing tasks while delivering high-quality products within deadlines
A willingness to act with a high degree of initiative and ability to deliver results
Ability to contribute to and foster a collegial and creative team culture
Humility and self-awareness, values feedback, invites and integrates different perspectives
