Purpose

This position will assist the Procurement Manager in day-to-day functions. Creation of Requisitions, processing of Purchase Orders, assisting in competitive bidding processes and commercial negotiations with vendors of goods and services, and keeping product/vendor databases up-to-date will be the bulk of the work responsibilities. Further, the preferred candidate will work with all members of the Business Development team in ensuring all procurement activities - professional service providers, major construction suppliers and power generation equipment providers, are value driven and strategic, while adhering to the Corporate Procurement Policies.

Accountabilities
  • Help team members in issuing requisitions through the software system, and free-form using existing templates
  • Process purchase orders and purchase requisitions
  • Obtain necessary invoice approval, arrange payment to vendors
  • Manage and up-keep of key product lists, proposal lists and vendor lists
  • Assist in the creation of RFx documentation
  • Assist in the question/answer during the RFx process
  • Assist in the evaluation/award of such RFx, including commercial negotiations
  • Connect with key vendors to obtain product/service proposals
  • Ensure proposal documentation properly maintained , while communicating proposal results to key team members
  • Assist project teams in conceptualizing and planning of key procurement activities
  • This role is associated with “strategic procurement” - finding economies of scale (i.e. consolidating orders, to reduce per unit cost), assisting in developing master service agreements with preferred vendors, finding effective methods of purchasing, to reduce costs and increase efficiencies
  • Analyze, discuss and elaborate planning, scheduling and control of procurement activities for equipment and service project requirements
  • Assist in conducting supply market evaluations (identifying opportunities, weaknesses, strengths, threats, via market benchmarking)
  • Support the development and implementation of procurement policies and procedures
  • Support procurement’s improved understanding of Canadian and US legislation which may impact the Renewable industry’s landscape (i.e. laws, tariffs, duties, import restrictions, labor restrictions, etc.)
  • Assist in developing tools to more efficiently forecast forward-looking pricing trends associated to freight (ocean, in-land), raw components (steel, aluminum, glass, polysilicone), and manufactured equipment (turbines, modules, transformers, batteries, etc.)

Education and Experience
  • University – Bachelor degree or equivalent
  • 3-5 years of experiences
