The Opportunity

Reports to: Owner

Indirect Reports: Team Members requiring IT support across organization

Location:Red Deer, AB

The Mandate

The Solutions Architect will be the software expert who designs, coordinates, and oversees all the technical standards, including software coding standards, tools, and platforms:

• Provide execution on Microsoft Suite applications throughout the business (IE. MS Teams, Excel, etc.);

• Collaborate with team members to determine best practices and requirements for software;

• Provide oversight and approval of all final programs and products before formal launch;

• Oversee and support the coaching and training of team members to ensure all necessary employees are confident in the use of software applications;

• Actively seek ways to improve business software processes and interactions;

• Use a proactive approach to common challenges and by continually researching best practices in coding;

• Ensure software security by reviewing/setting programs and coaching of team members;

• Troubleshoot coding problems quickly and efficiently to ensure a productive workplace;

• Utilize tools, technology, and various methodologies to create functional and intuitive solutions for user interfaces of desired products;

• Pay attention to system integration, sustainability, and feasibility;

• Manage all phases of technology development;

• Suggest and implement solutions for process improvement;

• Adhere to all the requirements and guidelines for quality, security, extensibility etc.

First Year Deliverables / Measures of Success

Success in the first year will be determined by the candidate’s ability to:

• Gain a high level of organizational familiarity;

• migrate current Google Sheets and Forms and into MS Teams based applications;

• Enhance Excel based visual basic applications previously built and make improvements;

• Showcase proven engagement to ensure the over-arching technical vision for the company is achieved with understanding the vision of the company.

Candidate Profile

Knowledge and Skill:

• 5-7 years of experience designing and implementing Microsoft-based software solutions;

• Degree in computer science, engineering, or similar relevant field;

• Experience overseeing customized development of processes for multiple projects simultaneously;

• Professional experience analyzing code for weaknesses and errors, and overseeing plans to improve them;

• Experience designing secure software systems based upon industry-specific specifications;

• A technical mindset and analytical approach;

• Demonstrated knowledge of web applications, cybersecurity, and open-source technologies;

• Outstanding collaboration and communication skills;

• Great attention to detail and strong leadership skills;

• Strong sense of ownership and pride in individual performance;

• Critical thinker and problem-solving skills;

• Good time-management skills.
