Summary

The Special Projects Group at Apple is looking for a software engineer to join our team to work on low-level software development. This role plays a significant part in delivering key features to one of Apple’s new products, working primarily in the areas of bootloaders, drivers and firmware development.
We work in a fast paced, startup-like environment and you will be part of that working cross-functionally with multiple groups from concept phase to delivering a product to market. We are seeking an engineer who is passionate about their work and excited to contribute to amazing products.


Key Qualifications

Strong programming skills in C

Strong debugging skills

Experience writing drivers such as: UART, I2C, SPI, USB, PCIe

Experience in low-level software development and real-time systems

Ability to understand how to read schematics


Description

You will be responsible for board bring-up, development of drivers, bootloaders and/or firmware as well as development of tests. You will collaborate with hardware, silicon and test engineers to resolve requirements and debug issues. You will be responsible for writing design and architecture documents as well as analyzing data and producing reports/recommendations. You must work to the organization’s policy.


Education & Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in CE, CS or equivalent experience.


Additional Requirements

- Experience with delivering product(s) to market(s)

- Programming skills with one or more of the following languages: Python, C++, or other high level languages

- Knowledge of electrical engineering and PCBA design

- Knowledge of electronic device manufacturing process

- Experience in board bring-up

- Experience in reworking hardware.

- Multi-functional engineering experience
