Oversees the daily operations of the Shipping & Logistics department and team, Smile Express delivery system and fleet of cars. The Shipping & Logistics Supervisor will report to the Customer Service, Shipping & Logistics Manager.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Oversees the daily operations of the Shipping & Logistics department including receiving/shipping cases, Smile Express delivery system and fleet of cars.
  • Assess employees’ compliance with procedure, assist in the development of employee skills and abilities by providing constructive criticism, recognition and corrective action when necessary; conduct quality assurance feedback and coaching sessions with assigned employees at regular intervals; provide both verbal and written feedback involving the discipline process
  • Interview and hire new staff for Shipping & Logistics positions jointly with reporting Manager
  • Assist new and existing employees in their onboarding training, briefing on policy and procedure
  • Develop shift schedules to provide adequate coverage for all the duties and functions of the department, including coordinating and approval of planned and unplanned absences.
  • Approve overtime hours and maintain control over working hours for the team
  • Provide cross-training initiatives across the department
  • Provide relief for the Shipping & Logistics Coordinators
  • Consult with the Marketing department regarding graphics for vehicles
  • Consult with head driver and approve repairs as required
  • Issue uniforms to drivers and maintain uniform inventory
  • Oversee the maintenance of inventory and packaging supplies
  • Oversee the maintenance of the premium packaging protocols
  • Coordinate departmental and continuous improvement plans and activities. Manage and control costs to stay within the department operating budget targets. Resolve various systems, parts, people or process issues to correct deficiencies, reduce costs, improve processes/performance
  • Prepare and complete analytical and statistical reports and memos as required. Prepare copies of recordings as directed
  • Coordinate the investigation of vehicle accidents and schedule vehicle reports with ICBC and body shop and complete repair reports
  • Coordinate warehousing and storeroom activities
  • Oversee the maintenance of vehicle maintenance logs and incident reports
  • Create and maintain vehicle files, manage keys and remote door openers
  • Work closely with insurance agents to ensure our fleet of vehicles are insured with the appropriate coverage
  • Communicate with the customers, subordinates, peers, supervisors; interpret, explain and answer operational and procedural questions, handle complaints/concerns from customers, employees and safety department; complete notifications to appropriate person
  • Operate and monitor sophisticated communications systems: Computer-Aided Dispatch and Radio System; initially troubleshoot issues and report appropriate failure to the correct person(s)
  • Special projects as assigned by management

What You Will Need

  • Associate degree/degree in a Business Management discipline or equivalent experience
  • Supervisory experience, preferably in Shipping and or Logistics (2-3 years)
  • Experience in budgeting, forecasting, and scheduling (2 years)

Job Type
