Who is eHealth Saskatchewan?

eHealth Saskatchewan is a Treasury Board Crown Corporation with the mandate to lead Saskatchewan Electronic Health Record (EHR) planning and strategy for the Province of Saskatchewan. We have worked with our healthcare partners to make electronic the vast majority of patient healthcare information in areas such as labs, pharmacies, radiology, surgery, emergency rooms, hospitals, and we also work in partnership with the Saskatchewan Medical Association to implement Electronic Medical Records in physician clinics. Our vision is “connected healthcare, accessible to everyone, everywhere” with a mission to transform healthcare through the use of information and innovative technology. This would electronically ‘connect’ the different streams of healthcare so patient information flows between healthcare providers and the patient.


The Role:
The Senior Information Security Specialist - Network is responsible for day to day operations to ensure compliance with eHealth information security policies, standards, and guidelines, along with legal and legislative requirements. This role accomplishes this by the implementation of new security solutions, monitoring the networks for security issues, identify and mitigate security threats and vulnerabilities, install security software, and resolve any security issues or breaches. This position will play a key role in all investigations pertaining to employee access, assets, and the use of company assets. The Senior Information Security Specialist - Network ensures all stakeholders are aware that there is the proper authority to proceed and that those are involved are on a need to know basis.

Responsibilities:

  • Mentor internal security team members
  • Experience with OWASP, ATT&CK framework, DAST, and SAT
  • This role will facilitate Network Security Analysis (identification & Analysis of Network Security Risks) across eHealth Saskatchewan. This role will be involved in the identification of Network security risks, cataloging and analyzing them.
  • This role will be responsible for administering Network security tools such as Deep-Packet inspection tools and network traffic analysis tools.
  • This role will be responsible for investigating Network elements of Security incidents across the organization.
  • Monitor intrusion detection and prevention systems, taking proactive and appropriate action when required.
  • Participate in security reviews of news services to ensure that end products meet operational security requirements
  • Lead incident responses, including steps to minimize the impacts and then conducting a technical and forensic investigation into how the breach happened and the extent of the damage.
  • Provide guidance for proactive controls based on SANS 20, CIS, and NIST
  • Perform detailed security analysis of network communication anomalies or security risks from changes to network device configurations, documents, and report these risks and follow up with appropriate resources to remedy those risks.
  • Support, operate, and maintain security related appliances, software, and processes
  • Periodically monitor the information assets for viruses, breaches, and policy violation and take appropriate action to mitigate the issues.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must have foundational Network security certifications e.g.; CCNA Security (unless candidate possesses higher network security certifications).
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional Security (CCNP Security) or CCIE security Certification
  • CISSP or ability to obtain a similar cybersecurity certification within one year of hire.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or Computer Science along with at least 5+ years direct information security experience
  • Previous Network Administration experience of 1 Years or more will be a plus
  • Previous experience conducting Network security analysis with tools like Wireshark, Netflow, Darktrace as well as security review with Network Configuration Management tools like CatTools, ManageEngine for identifying security baseline deviations.
  • Previous hands on experience reviewing Firewall rules and assessing Network Device configurations against security benchmarks.
  • Must have very deep knowledge and understanding of Network topologies, protocols (e.g. TCP/IP, SNMB, UDP etc.), OSI Model, network authentication protocols like Kerberos, RADIUS, TACACS etc. and the role of various types of network devices (e.g. Switches, Routers, Firewalls etc.) on a network.
  • Technical “hands-on” experience deploying and administering Network Security tools like IDS/IPS (Intrusion Detection System/ Intrusion Prevention System), Web traffic inspection, Network Access Control solutions, Network Traffic Monitoring & Analysis tools etc.
  • Good understanding of Technical Network controls like Firewalls, IPS/IDS, Network Device ACLs, Network isolation and segmentation, redundancy, communication encryption, VPN protocols, URL & DNS filtering etc.
  • Understanding & good knowledge of Cloud integration & connectivity technologies, WAN & SD-WAN and the relevant security controls e.g. SASE (Secure Access Service Edge), Zero-Trust Network etc.
  • Experience with SIEM/SOAR, NDR, EDR, VM, and Data Security solutions and concepts will be a plus
  • Demonstrated understanding of Information Security, Endpoints, and Networking operations, integrations, processes, and management concepts
  • Demonstrated technical knowledge of current network security, network hardware, protocols, and standards
