Job Summary
The Senior Commercial Leader, Specialty Health is responsible for creating and managing the structure, process and procedures required to maximize the impact of the McKesson network. Plans, organizes, staffs, and coordinates the Provider activities for McKesson Canada. Works with direct management, senior leadership/management, and staff to develop provider strategies aligned with the strategic priorities, build partnerships, and executes the tactical plan. In addition, the Senior Director is responsible for the effective measurement of the strategic Provider Strategy plan.
Section A – Specific Responsibilities
  • Leads the provider strategy team, develops the strategic initiatives relating to provider networks, including service area expansions, new payment and incentive methods, risk assessments and new product development.
  • Ability to lead, gain alignment and motivate teams across multiple layers and functions within McKesson
  • Recruit, negotiate, contract and re-contract with providers to ensure quality, cost effectiveness and their participation in all products. Lead contracting efforts for new products/ risk strategies and help develop new service areas
  • Involved in setting strategic direction to establish near and long-term goals for our core therapeutic areas
  • Participates on the leadership team and other committees addressing the strategic goals of the department and organization.
  • Manages the relationship with KOLs and community provider partners to support and advance initiatives.
  • Provides solutions to complex business problems for area(s) of responsibility where analysis of situations requires an in-depth knowledge of organizational objectives
  • Advises in preparation and negotiations of provider contracts and oversees negotiation of contracts in concert with the team and McKesson established company guidelines for physicians, hospitals, and other health care providers.
  • Utilize and / or enhance our standardized system(s) to track contract negotiation progress on an ongoing basis.
  • Communicate internally and externally regarding all provider related issues. Participate in key committees throughout the organization

Section C – Position Requirements
  • An Undergraduate Business, Pharmacy, Nursing or healthcare related degree; required;
  • 7+ years experience in Healthcare Administration, Managed Care, Provider Contracting and/or Provider Services;
  • 5 + years experience managing/supervising employees;
  • Strong knowledge of Specialty Pharmaceuticals and McKesson SPS offerings;
  • Strong financial and business acumen and the ability to create and defend a business case;
  • Demonstrated experience in developing strategic account planning methodologies;
  • Demonstrated experience negotiating contracts;
  • Solid experience in working with and communicating strategies and opportunities to an executive, account management, and business unit operations teams.
