About the role:
Reporting directly to the Manager, Development, the Senior Business Intelligence Developer supports the design, development, enhancement, maintenance, security and administration of the overall BI environment across the enterprise. The Senior BI Developer is also responsible for providing subject matter expertise and supports all strategic BI environments and data warehouses. As a senior member of the BI team, the incumbent is expected to provide leadership, contributing to the overall effectiveness of the team and mentor junior members of the team in achieving service excellence.
What you’ll do:
Position BI as a strategic partner for LOBs for business strategy and business development support by promoting the use of Business Intelligence (BI) tools and concepts across Finastra.
Identify, develop and implement solution opportunities within Business Intelligence area.
Provide support and expertise to the user community within Finastra to help them to better utilize Business Intelligence.
Design and implement multi-dimensional models, including the construction of Data View and Dimensions.
Design and develop in MSTR (MicroStrategy).
Administer users and groups in MSTR Administrative Console.
Develop and support ETL processes in SSIS.
Prepare all necessary documentation that clearly describes solution and Meta data.
Participate in data mining and analytics at LOB and enterprise level
Debug, monitor and troubleshoot BI solutions to resolve production issues.
Support for existing SAS programs an asset
Provide recommendation on methods to reduce costs, improve performance and availability of resources and reduce administration time.
Increase automation and work for cost sharing through consolidation and convergence.
Work with cross-functional groups to understand reporting requirements and conduct insightful analysis.
Ensure quality and optimal performance by monitoring and administering all BI Environments.
Influence and mobilize partners to facilitate communication; works cross functionally, consistently and effectively.
Work with internal resources during development phases to ensure appropriate knowledge transfer
Mentor and train staff by sharing best practices and lessons learned from past projects.
What you’ll need:
4+ years of experience with MicroStrategy. Experience with SQL Server SSRS/SSIS 2005+, SSAS is an asset
4+ years of design, analysis and implementation experience with relational databases
Experienced in developing BI Solutions (reports, dashboards, scorecards), Data Warehousing, Data Mining and Analytics
Previous experience in Financial Services management, analysis and reporting and or design and developing objects in Oracle Database considered an asset
Post-secondary diploma/degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or other equivalent diploma/degree and or experience
Advanced knowledge of OLAP/MOLAP technologies and dimensional modeling
Strong knowledge of Data Warehousing methodologies and concepts, including but not limited to: star schemas, snowflakes, ETL processes, dimensional modeling and reporting tools
Strong understanding of the differences between OLTP and OLAP systems and the different physical modeling and design considerations needed
Solid understanding of an Operational Data Store, an Enterprise Data Warehouse, and Data Marts, and the purposes and functions within an organization
Self-motivated individual who enjoys technical challenges
Proven ability to work in a fast paced, results oriented environment
Strong business/technology decision making skills
Strong interpersonal skills to effectively influence decisions and positively impact progress
Ability to work within a team environment
